Workout

WHAT IS A WORKOUT?by George AllenA workout is 25 percent perspiration and 75 percent determination. Stated another way, it is one part physical exertion and three parts self-discipline. Doing it is easy once you get started.A workout makes you better today than you were yesterday. It strengthens the body, relaxes the mind, and toughens the spirit. When you work out regularly, your problems diminish and your confidence grows. A workout is a personal triumph over laziness and procrastination. It is the badge of a winner-- the mark of an organized, goal-oriented person who has taken charge of his, or her, destiny.A workout is a wise use of time and an investment in excellence. It is a way of preparing for life's challenges and proving to yourself that you have what it takes to do what is necessary. A workout is a key that helps unlock the door to opportunity and success. Hidden within each of us is an extraordinary force. Physical and mental fitness are the triggers that can release it.A workout is form of rebirth. When you finish a good workout, you don't simply feel better, YOU FEEL BETTER ABOUT YOURSELF.

Motivation

There may be days when you get up in the morning and things aren't the way you had hoped they would be.That's when you have to tell yourself that things will get better. There are times when people disappoint you and let you down. But those are the times when you must remind yourself to trust your own judgments and opinions, to keep your life focused on believing in yourself. There will be challenges to face and changes to make in your life, and it is up to you to accept them.Constantly keep yourself headed in the right direction for you. It may not be easy at times, but in those times of struggle you will find a stronger sense of who you are.So when the days come that are filled with frustration and unexpected responsibilities, remember to believe in yourself and all you want your life to be.Because the challenges and changes will only help you to find the goals that you know are meant to come true for you.Keep Believing in YourselfLESSONS OF LIFE . . .I feared being alone until I learned to like myself.I feared failure until I realized that I only fail when I don't try.I feared success until I realized that I had to try in order to be happy with myself.I feared people's opinions until I learned that people would have opinions about me anyway.I feared rejection until I learned to have faith in myself.I feared pain until I learned that it's necessary for growth.I feared the truth until I saw the ugliness in lies.I feared life until I experienced its beauty.I feared death until I realized that it's not an end, but a beginning.I feared my destiny, until I realized that I had the power to change my life.I feared hate until I saw that it was nothing more than ignorance.I feared love until it touched my heart, making the darkness fade into endless sunny daysI feared ridicule until I learned how to laugh at myself.I feared growing old until I realized that I gained wisdom every day.I feared the future until I realized that life just kept getting better.I feared the past until I realized that it could no longer hurt me.I feared the dark until I saw the beauty of the starlight.I feared the light until I learned that the truth would give me strength.I feared change, until I saw that even the most beautiful butterfly had to undergo a metamorphosis before it could fly.And ..... AFTER A WHILE.........you learn the subtle difference between holding a hand and chaining a soulAnd you learn that love doesn't mean leaving that company doesn't mean security. And you begin to learn that kisses aren't contracts and presents aren't promises; And you begin to accept your defeats with your head held up and you eyes opened. with the grace of an adult, not the grief of a childAnd you learn to build your roads on today because tomorrows ground is too uncertain for plansAfter awhile, you learn that even sunshine burns if you get too much;So you plant your own garden and decorate your own soul instead of waiting for someone to bring you flowers; And you learn that you really can endure... that you really are strong and you have worth......................Author Unknown

gym etiquette

So a few things for you new years resolutioner gym noobies:
1) when you're done with a bar/machine, clean the weights off of the bar.
2) don't stand in the way of the dumbbell rack when curling and refuse to move if I'm trying to get to a dumbell
3) don't curl or other worthless things in the only squat rack...you can curl your 50lb bar anywhere, I'm trying to squat
4) if you can talk on your phone while you're lifting, you're doin it wrong

to be continued....
Love the gym on friday nights. So empty!

Racist/Bias/Ignorant chain mail forwardings

So I speak my mind on certain topics, and if it upsets a few people...tough. I cannot stand racism or other ignorant hatreds of large groups of people...so if you forward me one of these, expect a reply all with my opinion. "If the moderates of the white South fail to act now, history will have to record that the greatest tragedy of this period of social transition was not the strident clamor of the bad people, but the appalling silence of the good people." --Martin Luther King, Jr., 1958
